Ms. Brinkerhoff is a New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP), Licensed Professional Geologist/Hydrogeologist in NY, PA and DE. 

 For the past 25 years, Ms. Brinkerhoff has been the President and CEO of Brinkerhoff Environmental Services, Inc., a highly respected New Jersey-based environmental consulting firm that specializes in effective results on remedial projects. The firm has directed more than 1,500 environmental cleanup projects involving landfills, redevelopment sites with leaking underground storage tanks (USTs) and extensive industrial chemical pollutants, urban properties with contaminated historic fill, and hazardous waste disposal facilities. Her experience with more than 250 remediation projects, also known as “brownfield sites”, required regulatory compliance evaluation, design, and implementation of extraction technologies for removing petroleum products and other environmental contaminants from soil and groundwater.

Ms. Brinkerhoff has developed an effective strategy for negotiating alternative cleanup plans with oversight agencies when traditional methods used are not considered “cost effective”. Ms. Brinkerhoff maintains strong relationships with the regulatory officials that approve various federal and state financing alternatives and funding programs. Her ability to move projects efficiently through the regulatory process has been instrumental in controlling cleanup costs on virtually all projects.

Mr. Checchio is an Environmental Engineer with more than 25 years of experience managing civil and environmental engineering projects.

Technical staff under his supervision is tasked with environmental data review, regulatory analysis, groundwater investigations and remediation, environmental assessments, feasibility studies, integrity monitoring, preparation of bid specifications, hazardous materials assessments and aboveground/underground storage tank (AST)/UST management for public and private projects.

Mr. Checchio’s experience includes the analysis of cost effective solutions for soil and groundwater remediation and closure of sites containing various hazardous materials including petroleum hydrocarbons, volatile organics, and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). He has managed large scale remedial projects from initial concept through construction oversight.

Jim Gibson

Mr. Gibson is responsible for managing Brinkerhoff’s Medford, New Jersey office, directing projects involving geophysical surveys, UST closures, soil and groundwater remediation, developing Remedial Investigation Reports (RIRs) and Remedial Action Workplans (RAWs) in accordance with various state and federal agencies, coordination and implementation of the RIs and RAWs, and preparation of expert reports.

Mr. Gibson has supervised environmental compliance for more than 20 years on large scale open space, park development, and land preservation projects, having extensive knowledge of technical, field and regulatory requirements.

Ms. Clifford is responsible for managing Brinkerhoff’s Newark, New Jersey office and is a New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP), Senior Project Manager,  with consulting experience on private and public remedial projects involving soil, groundwater, and potential vapor intrusion issues.  Her technical experience includes Brownfield remediation, management of staff and subcontractors, and monitoring state and federal regulations. In addition, Ms. Clifford develops and manages scopes of work, budgets, purchase orders, schedules, health & safety requirements, and determines the most effective and efficient remedial strategies for regulatory closure.

Glenn Donohue

Mr. Donohue oversees ecological studies, permitting and project management on complex sites with interdisciplinary technical needs. 

His group prepares Freshwater Wetlands permits, Statewide General Permit Flood Hazard Area Individual Permit Applications, habitat analysis, and Fish and Wildlife Impact Analysis (FWIA). 

He interacts regularly with the oversight agencies and attends/hosts public meetings. Mr. Donohue is in charge of regulatory approvals and environmental permitting of energy and linear construction projects. He recently fast-tracked all required NJDEP permits and approvals, including those related to Threatened and Endangered Species, flood hazard, and stormwater management, for a 110-acre land-based solar development. His ability to streamline the approval process with the NJDEP was commended by the Client.

Jason Hooper

Mr. Hooper manages Brinkerhoff’s Facilities Group, preparing bids, interacting with Clients and agencies throughout NJ, NY and PA. He oversees public buildings renovation and pre-demolition services group for Brinkerhoff, including hazardous materials projects. 

His environmental experience includes remediation project management of asbestos, lead and mold for schools, public facilities, and commercial buildings. His technical experience includes asbestos, lead-based paint (LBP), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and mold investigations and sampling, mercury in flooring, research, preparation of reports, preparation of remedial specifications, and construction administration. Mr. Hooper holds certifications for asbestos and lead from NJ, NY and PA.

Sergio Rojas

Mr. Rojas is a New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) with more than 15 years of experience managing environmental remediation and geotechnical construction monitoring projects.

His expertise includes environmental site assessments (Phase I), investigations (Phase II), regulatory audits, and inspections for residential, commercial, and industrial properties throughout the United States and in Mexico. He has managed the installation and operation of numerous remediation systems and provided insurance industry Clients with claim support, risk analysis, and cost analysis services. Specialized knowledge includes remediation of chlorinated solvents in sediments and fractured bedrock, and PCB remediation with USEPA approvals.

Mr. Rojas is a detail- and service-oriented bilingual communicator with exceptional interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

Catherine Applegate is a Professional Engineer with significant project management experience in the New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania tristate area. Since 1993, Ms. Applegate has provided engineering, management and permitting services for public and private projects.

Her specific experience includes soil and groundwater investigations and remediation; preparation of site assessments; and performing due diligence and compliance audits for a wide range of industrial facilities including metals fabricators; paper and pulp, bulk terminal storage, plating and other industrial operations. Ms. Applegate has managed large scale remediation projects involving USEPA oversight of PCB contamination.

He is a successful Project Manager with advanced knowledge and understanding of environmental remediation principals, methods, and techniques. He has demonstrated ability in conducting comprehensive site investigations and remediation and maintains a working knowledge of project management and health and safety standards, many in situations requiring change and transition during the project life cycle. Mr. Barra uses his excellent communication skills to direct management of technical staff, administrative staff, field staff, and subcontractors. He develops and manages project budgets and tracks costs to ensure budget compliance.

Mr. DiMartinis is a New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP), Senior Project Manager, conducting hazardous waste site investigations and remediation for more than 25 years. He has performed contamination assessments and supervised the closure of more than 150 USTs for private and public Clients, including the US Army.

Mr. DiMartinis’ knowledge and experience encompasses site characterization, Brownfields redevelopment, hazardous materials management, health and safety concerns, confined space entry, field instrument calibration and maintenance, construction equipment operation, and tank tightness testing. He is a NJDEP-licensed Subsurface Evaluator and Industrial Wastewater Treatment System Operator (N-2 Industrial). He is also experienced in direct-push sampling and traditional drilling methods and licensed by the NJDEP as a Journeyman Well Driller.

Matthew Powers

Mr. Powers is an Environmental Scientist/Geophysicist responsible for managing the firm’s geophysical studies, field investigations, and 3-D computer modeling program. He oversees field collection of geophysical data using Terrain Conductivity Meters and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and is adept in designing and implementing data acquisition to detect buried foundations, USTs, drums, debris, landfill areas, and other subsurface conditions which pose potential environmental risks. He has collected data at numerous sites resulting in the discovery of previously unidentified underground storage tanks (USTs) and other subsurface structures.

Mr. Powers’ experience includes the use of Differential Global Positioning Satellite (DGPS) data to precisely locate geophysical anomalies and survey locations. Upon completion of fieldwork, Mr. Powers and support staff combine field data and in-house modeling programs to produce 2-D and 3-D subsurface images and technical reports.

Mr. Smith has an advanced knowledge and understanding of environmental remediation principals, methods, and techniques. He is an excellent communicator providing skills required to manage technical and field staff, subcontractors and the regulatory process.

Mr. Smith has completed major projects at multiple Superfund and RCRA remediation sites requiring soil and groundwater assessments, wastewater treatment system optimization, health and safety plan preparation with associated oversight of field sampling, laboratory analysis, and regulatory reporting.

From project inception through final completion, Ms. Singer oversees file management, performs reviews of technical documents through quality checks of maps, tables, charts, references, and laboratory data with text prepared for regulatory submissions. She communicates proposed changes/modifications on draft and final reports.

He has extensive experience working with land base information (i.e., lot, parcel, tract, right-of-way, easement, etc.), and engineering drawings as applied to GIS related work, map design and cartography, and survey principles.

Mr. Burns coordinates production and assembly of technical proposals for submittal to public and private Clients. He receives direct guidance from the Marketing Department, proposal team members, Principal, and key technical personnel during preparation of Brinkerhoff submittals.

The accuracy, uniformity, and required compliance for each proposal are of paramount importance for submittal to potential Clients. He has completed more than 400 proposals. He and Mr. Sobol network with new and existing Clients at the NJ State League of Municipalities convention held annually in Atlantic City.
